Groundbreaking Ceremony

After more than 40 years of effort, Beaverlodge has officially broken ground on the new Mountview Health Complex, to be built along Hwy. 43 on land donated by Doris McFarlane. The $170-million project is a P3 partnership between the Town of Beaverlodge and Landrex, with Alberta Health Services as the anchor tenant. Originally planned as an ambulatory care centre, Mountview will now offer 24/7 urgent care, 32 inpatient beds, lab and imaging services, and is expected to open in 2028.

“Doris’ dream is becoming a reality today.”
– Judy McFarlane

“One of the oldest hospitals in Alberta, it actually opened in 1956, will be replaced with a new state-of-the-art complex that includes 24/7 urgent care to bridge the gap between hospital care and home care.”
– Danielle Smith

“Doris didn’t live to see the hospital, this medical facility started, but I know if she were here today, her heart would be singing, and she would have a very big smile on her face.”
– Judy McFarlane
